How We Work

We run every engagement the same honest way: one team, a fixed scope, a fixed price, a clear timeline, and a real definition of done. No hourly billing, no retainers, no handoffs between contractors. This page explains the three phases, how we fix scope, how we know when work is finished, and what the week-to-week rhythm looks like.

Three phases

We work in three phases, and you can start wherever you are. Discovery validates an idea before you build it. Delivery designs and builds the product and hands it over ready to launch. Traction helps a live product grow with data once it is in the market. You do not have to take all three; you join at the phase that matches where your product actually is today.

One team, no handoffs

The same team carries your product through whichever phases you take, so context never gets lost in a handoff. Most studios specialise in one slice and leave you to stitch the pieces together, becoming the project manager by default. We do the opposite: one accountable team owns the whole outcome, from the first user interview to the live product and the growth that follows.

Fixed scope, fixed price

Before any engagement starts we agree exactly what is in scope, what it costs, and when it lands. The scope is written down and the price is fixed, so there is no hourly meter running and no surprise invoice at the end. If the work needs to change direction in a meaningful way, we talk about it openly and agree a new scope together, rather than quietly billing more hours.

Definition of done

Every engagement has an honest definition of done, agreed up front, so finished means finished. You always know the specific deliverables that mark the end of the work and the standard they need to meet. We adjust until the agreed outcome ships, rather than leaving a project to drift. A real finish line is the whole point, for you and for us.

Cadence

Week to week, we keep it light but visible. Expect a regular check-in, clear written updates, and quick decisions when we need them from you. You do not have to manage us day to day; a weekly touchpoint and prompt answers on the open questions are usually enough. We handle the rest and surface anything that needs your call early, not at the last minute.

What you own

On delivery the work is yours: full ownership of the code, the design, and the intellectual property, along with the repository, the documentation, and a proper handover. There is no lock-in and no dependency on us to keep your product running. If you want help in a later phase, that is an option you can take, never a string we attach.

Where we are

abyssLabs is remote-first, working across European and US-overlapping hours, and the registered entity is abyssLabs, s.r.o., based in Czechia (Czech Republic). Wherever you are building from, we work the way a focused in-house team would, without the overhead of hiring one. The best first step is a free thirty-minute intro call: reach us at hello@abysslabs.io or book at /go/book.
